How HLS Links are Validated

The tool makes an abortable no-cors GET request, not a HEAD request. Because the resulting response can be opaque, it cannot inspect the HTTP status or parse the HLS manifest. A resolved request is classified by elapsed time; treat it as a reachability hint, not proof that the manifest and media segments are valid.

A link test is not an HLS validator

The checker does not parse #EXT-X tags, variant playlists, encryption keys, media segments, discontinuities, or target durations. It only times a browser request that may be opaque because of no-cors mode.

To validate HLS, an authorized workflow must inspect the manifest and referenced resources with tools that can read their responses. M3U Studio's result is useful for triage, followed by confirmation in the intended player.
