Alphabetical Sorting for M3U Playlists

An unsorted playlist makes browsing channels on a TV guide extremely frustrating. Sorting your channels keeps categories neat and organized.

Sorting Categories and Channels

M3U Studio sorts the playlist on two levels: First, EPG categories (groups) are ordered alphabetically, and then channels within those groups are sorted A-Z.

One-Click Sorting Feature

Load the file, open the Optimizer, review the summary, and apply the result. The optimizer sorts first by `group-title` and then by channel name using the browser's locale comparison. Runtime varies with file size and device performance.

Why Sorted Playlists Zap Faster

Players index sorted listings faster. It helps you navigate sections rapidly without scanning thousands of unordered channels.

Sorting Options Available

You can toggle alphabetical sorts, sort by regional tags, or keep the provider default order while organizing channel titles.

View sorting versus exported sorting

The editor state includes name-only A–Z and Z–A view sorting, while the optimizer creates an exported order by group first and channel name second. These are different operations. Sorting never measures stream quality.

Locale comparison can order punctuation, numbers, and accented characters differently across browsers or locales. Inspect boundary cases if a target player expects a particular order.
